Description
PLEASE READ FIRST
Second View is not a camera app and does not take photos for you. It will not make your iPhone shoot like film. It is a
companion tool that helps you frame, meter, and plan shots before you press the shutter on your actual camera, whether
that's a film camera or a digital one. The reference photos it saves are framing aids, not your final images.
---
Second View turns your iPhone into a precision field toolkit for analog photographers. Set your lens and film format, and
the app crops the ultra-wide camera to show exactly what your film camera will capture. Same field of view, same aspect
ratio, same framing.
Supports 35mm, medium format (6x4.5 through 6x17 panoramic), large format (4x5, 5x7, 8x10), and custom sizes too.
VIEWFINDER
Precise field-of-view matching for any focal length and film format. The app calculates the exact crop from the iPhone's
ultra-wide camera, so what you see is exactly what the film will record. Switch freely between landscape and portrait
orientations.
LIGHT METER
Built-in light meter. Select your aperture, and the app calculates the correct shutter speed in real time. EV compensation,
hyperfocal distance display, auto and manual modes.
SPOT METERING
Meter the whole frame, or switch to spot mode and place a reticle to read a small area of the scene. Calibrate the meter
against your reference meter for results you can trust.
RECIPROCITY CORRECTION
60 film stocks with accurate reciprocity failure curves. When your exposure exceeds one second, the app calculates the
corrected time automatically. Supports Kodak Portra, Ektar, CineStill, Ilford HP5, Tri-X, T-Max, Fuji Velvia, Provia, and
many more.
LONG EXPOSURE TIMER
A countdown timer built for long exposures. A 3-second pre-countdown gives you time to open the shutter. Full-screen
progress ring shows remaining time. Pause, resume, or restart without leaving the screen.
LIDAR DISTANCE MEASUREMENT
On iPhone 12 Pro and later, Second View measures the distance to your subject using LiDAR. Tap anywhere on the viewfinder to
measure at that point. On other devices, enter the distance manually.
PARALLAX CORRECTION
Compensates for the physical offset between the iPhone and the camera's taking lens. Calculated from the measured or entered
distance and applied automatically. Most impactful at close distances where parallax matters.
RISE, FALL AND SHIFT
Simulate the movements of a view camera or technical camera. Offset the crop up, down, left, or right in 1mm steps.
COMPOSITION TOOLS
Rule of thirds, phi grid, golden triangle, and a fully customizable grid with up to 12x12 divisions. Bubble level with roll
and pitch readout.
SHOT CHECKLIST
Build a step-by-step checklist for each kit and run through it right in the viewfinder. Set one step to fire the shutter
automatically when you reach it.
CAMERA KITS
Save complete configurations and switch between them instantly. Each kit stores its lenses, film format, preferred film
stocks, enabled features, parallax offsets, and checklist.
FILM ROLL TRACKING
Track your rolls from first frame to last. Record when shooting started and finished, so you always know which roll is
loaded and when it was exposed.
CAPTURE AND GALLERY
Save a reference photo cropped to the exact viewfinder framing. Each capture includes a full metadata sidecar: focal length,
film format, film stock, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, rise/shift offset, GPS coordinates, and timestamp.

LiDAR features require iPhone 12 Pro or later.

Nouveautés (v1.1.0)
- Spot meter: tap anywhere on the preview to meter from that point. Pair it with the new meter calibration in advanced settings for precise readings.
- Group your captures into rolls in the gallery by kit and film stock.
- Per-kit shot checklist. Create your steps in settings and advance them from the viewfinder, with optional auto capture.
- Panoramic stitching simulation with auto calculation from your format and your max shift.
- Set the parallax subject distance manually with a slider. Parallax correction now works on iPhones without LiDAR too.
- And a handful of correctness fixes.
