Answered: Sued for Debt?

par JOHN TIMOTHY DISALLE

v1.1.7 37 Mo Universel 4+

Description

Sued for a debt? Fight back — without hiring a lawyer.

If you've been served with a summons and complaint by a debt collector or debt buyer, you have a short window to respond. Miss it, and the court can enter a default judgment against you for the full amount — plus interest, fees, and costs. Answered helps you respond the right way, on time.

Scan your court papers with your phone. In seconds, Answered extracts the key details — court, case number, deadline, parties, amount claimed — and analyzes the complaint for weaknesses in the plaintiff's case. Expired statute of limitations. Missing assignment documents. Unverified balance. Failure to attach required exhibits.

Then, with one tap, Answered drafts a proper Answer to the lawsuit, tailored to your state's civil procedure and formatted with the right caption, defenses, and signature lines.

After you export your Answer, the app shows you exactly what to do next: which courthouse to go to, how many copies to print, what to bring, where to mail the plaintiff's attorney's copy, and what the filing fee is. Add your filing deadline to your calendar in one tap.

When you receive your court date, save it in the app. We'll remind you 7 days before, 3 days before, and the morning of your hearing. A step-by-step Court Day Prep guide walks you through what to bring, what plaintiff will argue, what to say to the judge, and what to do if plaintiff doesn't show up.

When you're ready to file, you have two choices:

File it yourself — free. Print, sign, and follow our step-by-step instructions to file with the clerk and serve plaintiff's counsel.

Let us mail it for you — $39.99. Available in Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, and Michigan. We print your signed Answer, mail it via USPS Certified Mail with Return Receipt Requested to the court and the plaintiff's attorney, and send you tracking for both. You stay the pro se filer; we just handle the print shop and the trip to the post office.

What's inside:
-Document scanner with automatic page detection
-Weakness scan across 17 attorney-reviewed states (WI, IL, NY, FL, TX, MN, PA, OH, MI, GA, KY, IN, VA, MO, CA, NJ, AZ)
-Deadline tracker with countdown to every due date in your case
-Filing instructions with courthouse address, copy count, and calendar integration
-Court date reminders at 7 days, 3 days, and day-of
-Court Day Prep guide — what to bring, what to say, what to expect
-Step-by-step playbooks for arbitration, standing challenges, statute of limitations, and more
-Court-ready Answer document generator with state-specific defenses
-Mail filing service in eligible states — we print, certify, and mail for you
-All work product saved to your account, across devices

What Answered is not:
Answered is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It's a self-help tool that drafts documents based on the papers you upload, with the same care a paralegal would take — but no attorney-client relationship is created. For the biggest decisions in your case, we recommend consulting a licensed attorney in your state.

Pricing:
Free to download, scan, and analyze your case
Answered Pro — $99 one-time purchase unlocks the full playbook, Answer generator, and all future features
Mail Filing Service — $39.99 per filing, available in WI, TX, PA, OH, MN, and MI

Nouveautés (v1.1.7)

This update fixes a critical bug and adds features to help you through the full arc of your case — from filing your Answer to walking into the courtroom.

Bug fixed: wrong state law applied on manual entry. If you entered your case by hand instead of scanning, the app was silently applying Wisconsin law regardless of your actual state. If you used manual entry, open your case and verify the state field is correct.

Filing instructions after you export
After generating and exporting your Answer, the app now shows you exactly what to do next: which courthouse to go to, how many copies to print, what to bring, where to mail the plaintiff's attorney's copy, and what the filing fee is. You can add your filing deadline to your calendar directly from that screen.

Court date reminders
Once you receive your hearing date, save it in the app. We'll send you a reminder 7 days before, 3 days before, and the morning of your hearing so nothing sneaks up on you.

Court Day Prep guide
A new step-by-step guide walks you through everything before your hearing: what to bring, how early to arrive, what plaintiff will argue, what to say to the judge, and what to do if plaintiff doesn't show up.

Clearer weakness labels
The case analysis screen now uses plain English: "Case-killer ," "Major leverage," and "Worth raising" — so you know immediately what each finding means without a law degree.

After you purchase
Instead of being dropped back into the app after buying, you now see a clear three-step plan: generate your Answer, file it, watch your deadline.
