Sweepline

par Christopher Weems

v1.0.3 13 Mo Universel 17+

Description

Sweepline is a compact gesture-based dispatch tool for people, spaces, and systems.

Connect to a server you control — or one shared with your friends, family, or workgroup — then send signal events with directional sweeps, holds, and haptic confirmation. A quick gesture can acknowledge a request, unlock a workflow, mark a space occupied, hand off responsibility, or trigger a physical system connected to an endpoint.

Sweepline is intentionally small – like a Unix utility for your fingers.

There is no feed, profile system, or social network. The app enables team communication, but does not offer direct messages or a buddy list. It does its best to speak http, remember private keys, and get out of the way.

Endpoint servers (anyone can make these) define their own meaning:

• a swipe might open a door
• signal a stage cue
• coordinate a volunteer team
• control a relay
• acknowledge a task
• dispatch assistance
• mark a zone active
• or trigger workflows inside existing systems

Messages are signed by default using per-service cryptographic keys so operators can verify where events came from without requiring a centralized identity provider. (Server developers: if you don't need signatures, you can ignore them entirely. But with a little bit of crypto-math, your server can recognize and throw away anyone's attempts to rewrite history.)

Sweepline works well with:

• self-hosted servers
• Raspberry Pi projects
• team coordination tools
• pickup sports team availability tracking
• informal clock-in/clock-out
• Tailscale-connected services
• maker-space infrastructure
• studio and workshop lighting and controls
• interactive installations

The protocol is intentionally small and open.
The goal is to make deliberate, low-friction signaling possible across independent systems.

Sweepline lives on three surfaces:

The gesture surface – the one you touch.
The http surface – emits json objects that other web apps respond to.
The identity surface – intentionally minimized to a resettable random identifier per web domain.

That's it – no background checks, no cross-app identities, and no corpus of your past.

This app saves nothing.
The endpoints you connect to may.
