Cry in Thai

Cry in Thai is a small, honest Thai course for beginners. It follows the way Thai is taught in a language school: romanisation with tone marks first, Thai script alongside, short phrases you can actually use, and a lot of repetition.

LESSONS
• Each lesson is a real handout: the words with translations, the phrases with audio, and the rules explained in plain words.
• A training of 10 exercises drawn from a pool: say it in Thai, tell what it means, or reply to a line of dialogue. You build every answer from word tiles.
• Your name and your gender go into the phrases, so you practise the polite particles you will really use: khráp, khâ or khá.

FLASHCARDS
• 90 starter words in categories: greetings, numbers, food, market, time, colours, family, getting around.
• Mark a category "in learning" and practise with a word and four answers, the way spaced repetition apps do. Cards you miss come back more often.
• Add your own cards. Type the pronunciation on a keyboard with all five tones and the app suggests the Thai spelling from a 62,000-word dictionary. Or type the Thai and get the pronunciation with tones worked out from the spelling.

PRONUNCIATION
• Every syllable is explained: consonant class, live or dead syllable, tone mark, and the tone that comes out of it.
• Native-sounding audio for every word and phrase, syllable by syllable.
• Record your own voice for any card and choose which voice plays.
