Stubbd: Quit Smoking

par Anurag Agnihotri

v1.6 16 Mo Universel 17+

Description

You've tried before. Most people quit smoking on their sixth try — that isn't failure, it's how the brain learns.

Stubbd is the app for the long view. It shows you where you are in your brain's dopamine recovery, times every craving against the 5-minute half-life in your biology, and treats every attempt as data, not shame.

Day 1 is withdrawal. Day 90 is chemistry reset. Year 1 is heart-attack risk halved. You won't reach those moments without a tool that's still open when you do. This is that tool.
No streaks to shame. No willpower theater. No promises we can't keep.

WHAT'S INSIDE
· Brain healing timeline — From Day 0 to Year 5. Withdrawal peaks on Day 3. Chemistry resets at Day 90. Heart-attack risk halves by Year 1. A warm dot tracks your day on the curve.
· Craving timer — A 5-minute circle, designed around the research half-life of a craving. Tap on the way in. Breathe through it. Rate on the way out, so the next one isn't a surprise.
· AI coach — Trained on your profile and your recent cravings. Warm. Direct. Never uses the words "fail" or "willpower". Routes medical questions to a healthcare provider. Always routes crisis language to a crisis line.
· Savings counter — Money saved. Cigarettes not smoked. Minutes of life regained — eleven per cigarette, the CDC number.
· Relapse-as-data — Slips become learning toward the next attempt, not shame about the last one. Honest about the average six-try journey.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Most quit-smoking apps stop the moment you quit. Stubbd is the app you keep open after. The brain-healing timeline is built for the year ahead. The AI coach learns who you are. The craving timer is there for the 5-minute window when everything else isn't.

THE METHOD
Stubbd is built around the six behaviour-change techniques cessation research identifies as effective: goal setting, self-monitoring, feedback, prompts, rewards, and social support. Each maps to a specific Stubbd mechanic — feedback is the timeline, self-monitoring is the timer, the coach handles goal setting, the counter is the reward layer. We measure ourselves on Day-90 retention — whether you still don't smoke ninety days in — not minutes spent inside the app.

The app gets quieter as you heal: heavy support in week 1, weekly check-ins by month 3, a whisper by year 2.

Nouveautés (v1.6)

Your coach can now reach out to you.

When you mention a hard window coming up — phone calls in the afternoon, a wedding next month, mornings that have been brutal — the coach commits to a specific time and reason ("I'll check in Tuesday around 9am"). At that time, a push lands. Tap it and a new conversation opens with the coach already knowing why it's reaching out.

It also remembers you across sessions. When you tell it something worth holding onto — a pattern you just realized, a strategy that worked twice in a row, a difficult week coming up — the coach saves it. Every future conversation starts with that context already loaded. Open the app three weeks later and the coach will still remember what you said on Day 7.

Plus: the cost-per-cigarette step in onboarding now has a Done button on the keyboard, and onboarding completion is more reliable on slower networks.
