Voice Recorder Audio Memos keeps the recording button front and center so you can start quickly, confirm recording at a glance, and review recent sessions without digging through menus. After you stop, the app can transcribe on your iPhone and build a Meeting Brief with a title, short summary, decisions, action items, and up to 5 tap-to-play chapter markers.
Key Features:
- One-tap recording from a large home screen record button.
- Background recording keeps capture going when your screen is off or the app is in the background.
- Pause and resume during a session, then keep everything in the same recording.
- Live audio pulse and a Now Recording pill help you confirm capture is active.
- Recent recordings list on Home shows up to 5 latest items for quick review.
- On-device transcription with punctuation for easier reading.
- AI Meeting Brief with 5 sections: Title, TL;DR, Decisions, Action items, and Chapters.
- Full-screen review sheet with playback card, brief card, and transcript card in one scroll.
- Tap any transcript segment to jump playback to that moment.
- Drag across the waveform to scrub through the recording.
- Skip back 15 seconds or forward 30 seconds during playback.
- Rename recordings, move them to folders, share audio, or share the brief as a text document.
- Library search matches both recording titles and saved transcript text.
- Folder chips filter your library by All, No folder, or a named folder.
- Theme choices: System, Light, or Dark.
- Haptics master switch lets you turn all tactile feedback on or off.
How It Works:
- Tap Record on Home to start capture. Microphone access is asked only when you first try to record.
- Use Pause from the home toolbar if you need a break, then resume the same session.
- Tap Stop to save. Very short accidental taps under one second are not added to your library.
- Open a recent recording row or any library item to see playback, transcript, and Meeting Brief together.
- Tap a chapter marker such as Intro or Next steps to jump there and start playback.
- Use Re-run AI brief from the recording menu if you want a fresh summary after edits.
Common Use Cases:
- Meetings: capture discussion, then review decisions and action items.
- Lectures: jump to sentence-sized transcript segments to replay a key explanation.
- Personal notes: record a quick memo, rename it, and file it into a folder.
- Interviews: if headphones or an external mic disconnect, recording pauses instead of switching by surprise.
Library and Playback:
- Newest recordings appear first in the full library sheet.
- Status icons show whether a recording has audio only, a transcript, or a ready brief.
- Search can surface a matching phrase from the transcript under a result.
- The player includes play, pause, restart, a scrubber, waveform seeking, and a remaining-time label.
- Delete removes the recording together with its saved transcript and brief.
Widgets and Shortcuts:
- Add the Latest Recording widget to see your newest item, duration, and library stats.
- Use the Control Center control to jump into a new recording.
- Open, play, or summarize your latest recording from Siri, Spotlight, or Shortcuts.
- A Live Activity shows recording status, elapsed time, and audio pulse while capture is active.
Settings You Can Change:
- Theme: System, Light, or Dark.
- Haptics: one master toggle for all tactile feedback.
- Restart Onboarding: replay the 3-screen introduction any time.
Privacy Notes:
- Recording and transcription run on your iPhone.
- Your audio never leaves the device.
- The AI Meeting Brief also runs on your iPhone when available.
- If the brief is unavailable on your device, you can still record, play back, and read the transcript.
