reLux — Ray Traced Film & Cinema

reLux is a camera app designed for those who value the physics of light over digital filters. Instead of applying static overlays to your images, reLux uses a local ray tracing engine to process RAW sensor data in real time. This approach simulates how light actually interacts with a scene, creating a three-dimensional depth and a unique HDR fall-off that feels more like an optical lens than a digital sensor.

The film texture in reLux is calculated based on light density. This means the grain isn't a random pattern; it behaves organically, appearing finer in the highlights and deeper in the shadows, reproducing the natural behavior of 35mm silver halides. This physical simulation extends to both monochrome and color photography, offering a density and tonal range that standard mobile processing cannot achieve.

Cinematic video capture brings this same physics-based approach to motion. By recording with 16-bit components, reLux preserves a massive amount of data, allowing for a cinematic character characterized by soft highlights and deep, readable shadows.

To maintain the integrity of the ray tracing and depth calculations, reLux bypasses all zoom functions. This is a technical choice to ensure that every pixel is derived directly from the sensor’s raw data without the interference of digital scaling or multi-lens switching, resulting in the highest possible fidelity.

The output is intended for those who appreciate the weight and texture of film. Because the images and videos are processed at 16 bits per component, they retain an extraordinary amount of information, providing a professional foundation for further editing if you wish to refine the look even further.

Capture the world through the logic of light, not the logic of an algorithm. This is reLux.
