Description
Bayer Cam is a camera app entirely dedicated to raw Bayer capture, with an interface reminiscent of a classic film camera.
It launches instantly, offers a focused interface that gets out of your way, operates in automatic mode by default yet gives you control over every parameter of the exposure should you want it.
The raw Bayer format (also commonly just called "RAW") is the data that comes straight from your camera sensor, with absolutely no processing, no AI filtering, upscaling, sharpening, etc - just the pure original data. If you want the maximum original information in your photos for later processing, raw Bayer is the format for you.
Bayer Cam's user interface is straightforward yet thorough, exposing all the information and controls needed to precisely set an exposure: camera switcher, focal length, f-stop, manual/auto ISO and shutter speed controls.
The app is entirely free to use, with unlimited captures. A one-time purchase unlocks a wealth of additional settings and options, and gives you access to all future updates.
Additional controls include EV compensation, flash, toggling a customizable overlay for precise composition and monitoring (grid, horizon level, zebras, focus peaking).
You can also enable secondary processing with output in JPEG/HEIC/TIFF, and various parameters to control the render of the final photograph.
Make the app your own with a fully themeable interface (low brightness themes for night shooting are included), and many more additional various advanced settings.
Bayer Cam is a great tool for:
- PHOTOGRAPHERS who want to capture photos with the maximum raw data and absolutely zero post-processing, to edit them later in dedicated processing software (such as AgBr) or professional editing software (such as Lightroom, Capture One, or Affinity Photo).
- STUDENTS OF PHOTOGRAPHY who want to experiment with manual controls, and get a feeling for how they affect the final exposure.
The meaning of "shutter speed" has become loose in modern camera pipelines that combine multiple exposures to create an image. Only raw Bayer capture gives you an image truly produced from a single exposure.
- ADVANCED USERS who want a technical tool that will launch and capture Bayer raw data as quickly as possible, with full insight and control of their photographic workflow.
Some other pro camera apps support Bayer raw, but you probably have those set to your preferred output format and tapping around to switch back-and-forth settings between captures can be annoying in the midst of a photoshoot - quickly switching between apps offers a much more streamlined process instead.
