Description
Photograph VHS tapes at the thrift store and find out which ones are worth grabbing. The app identifies titles, then five taste profiles judge every tape at once: YES, MAYBE, or NO, each with reasoning you can actually read. Your collection stays with you. The app remembers what you own and what you're hunting for.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Take up to five photos of VHS tapes (spines, covers, stacks)
2. Five taste profiles judge every tape at once, each looking for something different
3. Every tape gets a clear verdict with written reasoning
4. Add the ones you want to your collection or want list
5. The app catches tapes you already own and flags ones on your want list automatically.
FIVE TASTE PROFILES
One cares about action. Another cares about horror. A third is looking for SOV and bootlegged tapes. They don't always agree, and even when they do, the reasons are different. That's the point.
Bruiser: Action movies with stunts, fights, and explosions. The louder, the better.
Sicko: Anything that belongs on the horror shelf. Slashers, creature features, banned and censored stuff.
Chrome: Robots, hackers, virtual reality, dystopian tech. Futures imagined before the internet existed.
Zealot: Movies with obsessive followings that the mainstream ignored. Devotion over quality.
Weirdo: SOV, outsider media, subcultural tapes. Made by weirdos for weirdos.
Bloodsport gets a YES from Bruiser ("peak Cannon Films action, tournament structure, Van Damme doing the splits"), a YES from Zealot ("endlessly quotable, massive following"), and a MAYBE from Sicko ("not horror, but the tournament has slasher energy").
