Description
Music is a language. You learned your first language by listening — not by reading textbooks. Intonote works the same way.
No staff notation. No written theory tests. Just sounds, singing, and understanding — the way methods like Kodály and Gordon's Music Learning Theory have always said it should be done. Hear it, sing it, know it.
A 75-LEVEL GUIDED JOURNEY
A spiralling curriculum across 6 stages built on 30 different skill types — intervals, chords, scales, rhythm, melody, harmony, singing, and more. You don't spend weeks on intervals before touching chords — instead, every stage weaves them together so skills reinforce each other naturally.
Journey also gradually introduces 9 instruments and rotates timbres as you progress, so your ear learns the sound itself instead of overfitting to piano.
Most levels chain identification with singing: hear a sound, name it, then sing it back — building audiation (the ability to hear music in your mind) from your first minutes in the app. This listen-then-sing cycle, inspired by Gordon's skill learning sequence, is what turns recognition into real fluency.
HEAR IT IN CONTEXT
Most ear training apps drill sounds in isolation. Intonote trains them the way they actually appear in music — intervals inside melodies, chords inside progressions, scale degrees within a key.
• Interval in Context — spot intervals inside melodic phrases
• Chord in Context — identify chords within harmonic progressions
• Functional Chords — Roman numeral harmony in tonal context
• Mode Ear — identify modal colour from a melody
• Bass Line Dictation — transcribe root motion of a progression
THREE WAYS TO TRAIN
Beyond the Journey, there are 20 skill paths — focused multi-level progressions that let you go deep on one area like intervals, chord voicings, or modal ear. And every exercise is also available as a standalone drill: pick your difficulty or set up custom filters and practise whatever you want, whenever you want.
SMART IMPROVEMENTS
Intonote watches your stats and tells you exactly where to focus next.
• AI Coach — on-device AI analyses your progress and recommends what to practise (iOS 26+)
• Confusion Drill — every mix-up is logged; drill your weakest pairs until they're resolved
Whether you're hearing your first interval or navigating modulations in a jazz standard — Intonote teaches you the language of music the way it should be learned: by ear.
