Description
Big Buoy puts live marine conditions in front of you before you fish. Real NOAA buoy data, tides, solunar tables, wind and wave forecasts. The stuff that decides whether you go and where you set up.
LIVE NOAA BUOYS
873 stations across the East Coast, Gulf, Great Lakes, and West Coast, updated every 10 minutes. Water temp, wave height, swell period, wind speed and direction. Straight from the buoy, no fluff.
TIDES THAT DON'T GO DOWN
Tide predictions for 3,400+ stations, served from Big Buoy's own servers. When government feeds have an outage, your tides keep loading. Charts show highs, lows, and the current stage at a glance, and the gauge picker always shows the closest station to you with live status.
DEPTH CHART (PRO)
Survey-grade bathymetry built from NOAA ENC and Army Corps eHydro surveys, layered right on the map. Read the bottom. Find the ledges, humps, channels, and drop-offs that hold fish, inshore and offshore.
SOLUNAR FISHING TIMES
Major and minor feeding windows computed with a real astronomical model, tied to your spot. Plan the day around the bite instead of the other way around.
WIND, WAVES & WEATHER
7-day forecasts free, 16 days with Pro. Pro also compares all five major models (GFS, HRRR, ECMWF, GEM, ICON) so you can fish the consensus instead of trusting one run.
SAVED SPOTS & MONDAY BRIEFING
Save unlimited spots. Get a Monday morning email that reads the week ahead for your water so you can pick your day early.
BIG BUOY PRO
For anglers who fish around a work schedule. Limited days on the water means every trip has to count. Pro gives you the 16-day window, every forecast model, the Depth Chart, and satellite overlays (sea surface temperature, chlorophyll, ocean currents) to pick the right day and run straight to fish. Ad-free. $4.99/month or $39.99/year. The free tier stays genuinely useful: live buoys, 7-day forecasts, tides, and solunar, supported by ads.
REAL DATA, REAL SOURCES
NOAA NDBC buoys. NOAA CO-OPS tide predictions. NOAA ENC and USACE eHydro surveys. Copernicus satellite data. We show you where every number comes from.

What's new (v1.5)
RIVERS ARE HERE
Every operational USGS river gauge is now in Big Buoy, free, for every user. Live stage, flow and water temperature for rivers across the country.
• Nearby Rivers: a new tab on Spots & Buoys showing the closest gauges and what they're reading right now
• Save any gauge to your spots, alongside your saltwater spots
• Tap a gauge for stage, flow, water temp, recent trend and a 7-day chart
• NWS flood categories, where the National Weather Service publishes them
• Turbidity and dissolved oxygen on the gauges that report them
• Gauges are searchable, same as buoys
Rivers are worth watching even if you only fish salt. A big rain event pushes dirty freshwater downstream, and this is the easiest way to see what's coming.
SHARPER WIND
The wind map now runs at 0.25° and hourly, four times finer than the 1° field it replaces. Same map, a lot more detail close to shore.
FIXES
• Tidal river gauges no longer read as negative numbers. Flow reverses on an incoming tide, and it now shows as "399 cfs upstream" instead of "-399 cfs"
• The Confirmation Email and Cancel buttons weren't responding
• A saved coordinate link wouldn't open from a cold start
• River gauge names now read the way you'd say them, not in USGS shorthand
• Map data sources moved to an info button beside the map controls
