Description
Lamby Talker: AAC for Every Child
Most AAC apps are complicated, expensive, and built for children who already know how to communicate. They assume your child will have a breakthrough moment and suddenly start building sentences.
For many children and many families, that never happens.
Lamby Talker was built by a mom whose son never found success with any of the other AAC apps or devices. We tried them all. So we made our own.
Simple AAC that actually works
Big bright buttons. Complete phrases. No piecing words together, no overwhelming menus, no confusing layouts. Your child taps one button and the app speaks a full sentence. That is it.
Designed for children with autism, apraxia, developmental delays, and gestalt language processing — and for any child who needs a gentler, simpler way to communicate.
Built for gestalt language learners
Gestalt learners memorize whole phrases, not individual words. Pre-verbal and non-verbal children may have words inside them but full sentences feel out of reach. Lamby Talker meets them exactly where they are.
Every button speaks a complete phrase. I want to eat. I feel happy. I see my mom. No building required. No pressure. Just communication.
Use it as a dedicated AAC device
Lamby Talker works beautifully as a dedicated communication device. Use Apple Guided Access to lock your child's iPad or iPhone to just this app so they can focus without distractions or accidental exits.
Pair it with an affordable older iPad and a protective case and you have a dedicated AAC device for a fraction of the cost of traditional speech communication devices.
To set it up: go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access. Open Lamby Talker, then triple-click the side or home button to lock to the app. Triple-click again to exit.
Made for your child specifically
Every child is different. A button that says noodles might need to say spaghetti. A toy your child calls a dolly should say dolly.
Parent settings let you add, remove, and rename any button so the app speaks your child's language, not a generic one. Add photos from your camera roll as button icons. Create entirely new categories built around your child's world.
Sound sensitive kids welcome
Some children are sensitive to sound. The speak button is completely optional. Your child can tap and show you the screen instead. Communication does not have to be loud.

Start here or stay here
Lamby Talker does not have to be a stepping stone. It can be a long-term AAC solution. It works beautifully on its own or alongside more complex augmentative and alternative communication tools.
Every child is different. Every path looks different. What matters is that your child discovers their voice has power — and that when they use it, the world responds.
Made with love, not investors.
What's new (v1.1)
This update is packed with improvements based on everything we've learned since launch. Thank you to every family who downloaded Lamby Talker and trusted us with something so important.
What's new:
New feelings buttons — we added I Feel Bored and I Feel Frustrated because kids feel those things too and deserve a way to say so.
Bigger, better buttons — we completely reworked how buttons are sized across every device. Whether you're on an iPhone or a 13-inch iPad, buttons now fill the screen the way they should. Large, clear, and easy to tap.
Improved voice picker — voices are now organized into categories: US voices, Novelty voices, and Other languages. Enhanced and Premium voices are highlighted so you know which ones sound the most natural. Voices you haven't downloaded yet are shown grayed out with instructions on how to get them — no more guessing.
Quick response buttons — the Yes, No, Help and Look at this buttons now work with Auto Speak mode, so your child can communicate instantly with a single tap.
Emoji picker upgrade — the emoji picker now includes thousands of emojis organized by category with a search bar. No more limited selection.
Delete confirmation — accidentally deleted a button? We added a confirmation step before anything gets removed so it can't happen by mistake.
Version number — the app version now shows on the About screen so you always know what you're running.
