Description

Joanes is the app designed by and for painters. Whether you work in oil, acrylic or watercolor, Joanes accompanies you from picking colors to the brushstroke.

— REFERENCE ANALYSIS
Import a photo, tap any point, and Joanes identifies the closest pigment in your range. Calibrate the white for maximum accuracy.

— KUBELKA-MUNK ENGINE
All mixes are calculated using the spectral physical model used by color chemists. No more guesswork: you know exactly which pigments to mix and in what proportions to achieve a target color.

— MY PALETTE
Photograph your real palette, Joanes identifies each dab and tells you which pigments you've laid out.

— AR TRACING
Project your sketch in augmented reality directly onto your canvas. Place it, adjust it, choose between normal view and contour view (ghost), then trace.

— STEP BY STEP
Break down any photo into 5 classic painting steps: imprimatura, block-in, values, details, finish. With the pigments to use at each step.

— TRAIN YOUR EYE
Color recognition challenges in easy, medium or expert mode. Earn bronze, silver and gold trophies per color.

— 100% OFFLINE
No account, no data sent online. Your photos and creations stay on your device.

Available in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Japanese.

What's new (v1.1.2)

New features, more precision, and more pigments.

- Virtual mixing: combine up to 4 colors in Search mode, adjust proportions with sliders, lock colors and save the result to your Library.

- Complementary Vision mode: double-tap any color swatch to switch the whole app to pigmentary complementaries (Itten RYB). Perfect for visualizing contrasts before painting.

- Portfolio: 4 new display styles (List, Gallery, Magazine, Grid). Export adapts to the chosen style. Artwork photos preserve their original aspect ratio.

- Enhanced search: all classic pigments are now searchable by name (Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, etc.).

- Photo mode: the analysis crosshair repositions automatically when you tap a color in the history.

- Train your eye: new targets including very light pastels and very dark shadows.

- Fixed an accuracy issue in Photo mode that could analyze a slightly offset pixel.

- Help section updated with new features and tips for Perspective mode.
